Travelling around Glasgow
When getting about in Glasgow city centre walking is often the best choice of transport as there is many attractions that are only minutes walk from our city centre position. There is also plenty of public transport that will take you to all areas of the city centre and further afield if necessary.
Walking
Many of Glasgow’s attractions are located within the city centre area and hence are within walking distance of Marks Hotel. For these locations, such as the Merchant City or George Square, we would recommend that walking is the best form of transport.
Buses
Using First Bus to get around Glasgow is a quick and reliable mode of transport that can transport you to all areas of the city taking you past many of Glasgow’s most recognisable attractions. It is also an excellent mode of transport for taking you further afield, perhaps to attractions that are outside of the city centre or other cities within Scotland. Buchanan Street bus station is the main bus station and it is located within 5 minutes of the hotel.
Subway
The Inner and Outer circles on Glasgow’s subway take you right to the door of some of Glasgow’s best attractions, for example Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery and the O2 academy. The subway is one of the most reliable forms of transport and also one of the easiest and quickest ways to travel with trains coming on a frequency of as little as every 4 minutes.
Train
There are two train stations in Glasgow city centre, Queen Street and Glasgow Central station, that are responsible for all train services in the Glasgow area. The train stations are a better option for visiting attractions that are out of Glasgow city centre, perhaps attractions that are further away or to visit one of Scotland’s other excellent cities, for example Edinburgh which is only 45 minutes away when travelling by train.
